BEST WAYS TO PROMOTE YOUR WEBSITE

If your measure of website success is thousands of hits to your site, then brace yourself as it's not going to be a bed of roses. Like any venture in life, you have to invest time or money or both. For those who have the money, well… hire the best online marketing company you can get. For those of us working on a budget (or no budget at all), there's good news. There are plenty of FREE available resources online that could be just as rewarding; however, these methods could be time consuming. So don't expect to build a website today and thousands of visitors tomorrow. But as long as you keep on promoting the first few months, expect visitors to visit your website at very minimal effort on your part in 6 months or so.

So what are these FREE web promotion methods?

1. Search Engines/Directories: As long as you have searched the web, you have come across this oh-so-powerful marketing agent that any webmaster must get friendly with. Many people still contend that search engines bring in the majority of the traffic to their site. Personally, I believe there are three things you must remember when considering search engines: 1)meta tags 2) content 3)download time. There is an excellent tutorial in selfpromotion.com about meta tags and making it to the search engines. I suggest you read it and follow everything it says.

There are many auto submitters online which you could use to submit your site to search engines. Many of them are good and I use them from time to time, but I recommend that you manually submit to the main search engines. Below are links to the submission pages of the major ones.

http://www.selfpromotion.com : contains not only an automatic submission page but also very informative articles about positioning in the search engines.

http://www.addme.com : this is a personal favorite of mine. They don't only have an automatic search engine submission, but dozens of very helpful articles for webmasters.

http://www.jimtools.com : auto submission pages include one for search engines, directories, indices, and ffa pages.


2. Exchange Links - I am a big fan of exchange links. Before my sites get listed on search engines, exchange links have always given me steady traffic. What I usually do is look for websites that are related to mine and then write the webmaster. About 50% of them are happy enough to put my link on their site on the condition that I put theirs as well. Not a bad deal!

3. MPAM - There must be other programs out there that operates in the same way as MPAM, but this is the only one I know which works quiet well for me. Mpam is a program that promises thousands of traffic to your site if you follow its instructions to the bone. I highly recommend it. It is an advertising machine that utilizes 12 different ways to promote online. It also includes a detailed tutorial of these methods that could drive Insane traffic to your site. This could take a lot of time as you need to register to many programs, but I believe it is well worth it. Click here if interested.

4. Article Writing - Yeah that's right! Article writing. You offer a free article for people to publish and expect quality traffic to your site. There are many webmasters who do not have the skills or the time to write an article. This is where you come in-- you fill that need. How do you know someone's looking for one? Easy! There are many websites (called article directories) that collect free articles where 'webmasters in need' could browse through and get one (these websites are listed below). So how do you get traffic from this? As the author, you are entitled to write a short info about you and your website. People reading your article and are interested to know more will most likely click the link that you have provided and wal-lah! that's the visitor you want to have.

5. Email Signature: A signature is simply your name and a short description of your business/website. This is good advertising as it will most likely attract visitors who are really interesed in what you offer. In all your outgoing email, always leave your signature. Below is an example.
